From January to June, Monica Vasile is a visiting fellow, VisitAnt, in the interdisciplinary programme Biodiverse Anthropocenes at the University of Oulu in Finland (not far from the Arctic Circle). There, Monica shares an office in the Genetics and Ecology department and is focusing on writing up her research. The programme offers a very friendly environment and ample possibilities to engage across disciplines, bridging humanities and the life sciences. She has been inspired by the work of conservation geneticists, ecologists, primatologists, and scholars working on thylacine de-extinction – among others.
