Monica Vasile presented at the IUCN International Conservation Translocation Conference held in Fremantle, Australia, 12-15 November. As the conference website states, “The International Conservation Translocation Conference (ICTC) is a premier conservation translocation science event, linked to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Conservation Translocation Specialist Group (previously the Reintroduction Specialist Group), part of the IUCN Species Survival Commission.”
Monica was the only historian among scientists and conservationists, sharing her historical research on the reintroductions of the Przewalski’s horse, the Vancouver Island marmot, and New Zealand’s takahe rail in her presentation “What can a historian say about a global history of reintroductions?”.
