Moving Animals

This August, Monica Vasile co-organized a panel, and presented a paper and session at the 4th World Congress of Environmental History (WCEH) held at Oulu University in Finland, where she was a Visiting Fellow this year in the interdisciplinary programme Biodiverse Anthropocenes.

Monica’s double panel, “What ever happened to wildlife? Histories of human-animal transformations in the Anthropocene” was well attended, and she presented one of her Moving Animals case studies with the paper “What ever happened to Przewalski’s horses over the 20th century?”

At the WCEH Monica also presented thoughts about strategies of navigating failure in writing articles and publishing in academic journals in the opening session “Towards a successful understanding of ‘Failure,'” a panel dedicated to Early Career Researchers.
