From 19-21 March, 2025, the conference Rewilding in Europe: Genealogies, Imaginaries and Practices of Conservation in the Anthropocene took place at Museum Koenig, Bonn. It offered interdisciplinary discussions between conservationists, geneticists, historians and social scientists about the what, when and why of rewilding. The Moving Animals team was represented by Monica Vasile (who spoke on the concept of refugee species) and Raf De Bont (who discussed hamsters as charismatic minifauna, bringing the rewilding discussion to bear on agricultural land).
