Vanessa Bateman was awarded an ESEH-Gale Fellowship in Digital Environmental History from the European Society for Environmental History. She will be using the Gale digital archives and the Gale Digital Humanities Lab to work on her project “Screening Wildlife: A History of Citizen Filmmaking and Conservation in Canada, the United States, and Caribbean, 1910-1960.” One of her case studies investigates how migratory bird photography was used as a form of environmental activism, and helping to establish National Wildlife Refuges in Oregon and Florida in the early 1900s.
